THE BRIEF
Erica Marmai is a truly passionate Wellness & Relationship coach with a zest for getting folks to look inward, to affect their outward. Her business is all about good communication and evolving human connections. She needed a helping hand to create a consistent brand style; one that communicated her company’s values and moods - down to earth, approachable, caring, as well as being all about change & transition.
This entailed a logo, fonts, colour palette, design themes and business cards.
THE SOLUTION
Upon starting the project, it was made clear the logo needed to be clear cut, distinctive and modern; to be recognisable and reflect aspects of Erica’s business. Erica came to me with a vision of ripples in water. Three ripples to be exact. The central being The Self, the 2nd ripple being You/The Partner and the 3rd being We/Us.
With that solid bit of direction I crafted a concise logo mark that could be used anywhere from her website, instagram, business cards and even a tiny favicon.
Playing around with the “direction” of the ripples, I decided the origin of the “splash” should come from the left, moving outward to the right, as this is how we (in most Western countries) read and therefore would feel more natural for the viewer.
Whilst maintaining a modern aesthetic, the logo also needed to feel organic and imbue a sense of nature, so I made sure to give everything a slightly uneven edge. Relationships are ever-changing, fluid and growing…Perfect curves or straight lines don’t really exist in the wild and so, combined with an earthy colour palette, we had our logo. The design works well and can be used with her business name adjacent, or alone as a logo mark in its own right.
I created a series of colour palette options for Erica to choose from, paired with two carefully selected fonts. These would be used throughout the brand to maintain consistency.
I designed a series of business card mockups as well, to allow her to share her business with style and professionalism.
Erica also had visions of a tagline that could be printed on merch, somehow encorporating the logo too. I produced a few mockup designs for her that would bring her wholesome brand message to any and all onlookers.
