Disco Burgers
& Loaded Vibes

THE BRIEF

Rob, the proprietor of Bastard’s Bistro had an intriguing new project on his hands - a burger joint slinging out sumptuous and loud patties with equally exuberant sides. His request was straightforward yet compelling: the need for a logo mascot that embodied the overflowing energy and flavour that his burger haven provided.
The challenge? A looming deadline of three days and the freedom to let creativity run wild. Rob had thoughtfully crafted a font for the venture, entrusting me with the creation of the mascot.

THE SOLUTION

With a deadline counting down, there was little room for second-guessing or endless revisions. The business name said it all: we needed something that hit all the key factors; Disco, Burgers, Fun & Vibes.

Here is a glimpse of a few of the initial ideas:

  • A burger boasting a disco ball bun, wearing roller skates and proudly holding aloft his own mini burger companion.

  • A character with a disco ball for a head, dressed in classic grill chef attire,  skillfully wielding a spatula, and burger in hand.

  • A Burger headed figure, with disco balls for eyes, striking the iconic John Travolta pose, filled with dripping fillings.

  • A giant Disco ball, with tongue extended, upon which a tiny anthropomorphised burger was sat, bouncing (to the beat?)

The giant Disco ball emerged victorious. I added some killer shades, some sparkle and squeezable cheeks, for a retro, Americana feel. After cleaning it up and vectorising, I couldn’t resist crafting a version that included accompanying text - sometimes, creative exploration is just too irresistible to pass up.

Rob was delighted, like a burger sizzling on the dance floor and the logo was all set to shine within the week.
